Every year in the district of Peqin, the Turkey Fair is held
for the 20th year in a row in the administrative unit Përparim of Peqin district, which aims to promote the tradition of this area in raising these turkeys.
This year, too, the turkey fair came as a cooperation of the Regional Agency of the Veterinary Service in cooperation with the administrative unit Përparim.

The head of the service said that Peqin turkeys are certified, while the production covers not only the requirements of the area but more than that.
It is learned that in this area during this year have been bred about 42 thousand heads.

Incentive awards were given to farmers who had not only the largest herds, but also appreciating the quality of their growth in a natural and healthy way.
The promotion of a long-standing tradition of turkey breeding and breeding in the area of Peqin Municipality has attracted many visitors and buyers from other cities.

In the Perparim Administrative Unit, which bears the most important weight of the growth of turkeys, every year, farmers and cultivators gather and continuously show the size of the herds raised with great sacrifices, to give another taste and atmosphere to the table of end of the year.

The Municipality of Peqin thanks all the farmers for the care and sacrifices for the growth of this bird and expresses its readiness to support this tradition.

But, in addition to promotion, Peqin farmers need a designated market place, so that their trade does not develop along the national axis Elbasan-Peqin, and also for facilitation policies, so that these naturally grown turkeys do not compete in price with imported non-bio turkeys. Although in 2021 the price of turkey per kg is expected to increase in the market, farmers talk about the difficulties of breeding, because according to them, Peqin turkeys grow with organic products, so they are very much in demand.

Turkey breeding occupies an important place among the farmers of Peqin district and this tradition aims to expand even more.
